Welcome to the Motorcycle Capital of the World!
Here in the heart of Ohio, motorcycling is a rich and vibrant activity involving a rapidly growing community of riders.
Home to the American Motorcyclist Association and its Hall of Fame Museum, Mid-Ohio Sports Car (& Motorcycle Course), one of the nation’s largest bike nights and other major motorcycling assets, this region can proudly lay claim to its leadership role.
Of course, a critical aspect lending support to this leading-edge position is A.D. Farrow Co. Harley-Davidson & Buell. America’s Oldest Harley Dealer, we will celebrate our 100 th year of business in 2012.
The dealership was founded by Alford D. Farrow, an entrepreneur guided by a dream and passion. On February 26, 1912, the 23-year-old put the two together when he ordered his first Harley-Davidson® motorcycle.
A.D. Farrow started his dealership in Nelsonville , Ohio, but soon moved to Columbus, Ohio. Originally located on 4th Street, this dealership was moved to an East Main Street storefront in 1925 . With his passing in 1927 his wife Lillie took over the company and became one of the first female Harley-Davidson dealers. In 1941, A.D. Farrow Co. moved to its current Downtown Columbus location at 491 West Broad Street.
In time Lillie Farrow’s son, Don Farrow, took over the business, and his family operated the dealership until the 1980s. In 1983 Pat and Al Doerman purchased the dealership and the adjacent land, allowing the dealership to double in size and expand its service offerings.
The latest chapter in this great company’s history began in 2003 when Bob & Valerie Althoff acquired the dealership and began setting into motion a series of rapid and remarkable changes for the business.
The vision, commitment and goal of our entire team is to develop A.D. Farrow Co. into America 's Best Harley Dealership. The pace of change in the shop is frenetic, with ever-improving facilities, rider training classes, group rides, parties, events and community service activities taking place year round!
Exactly 95 years from the day A.D. ordered that first bike, the dealership began a new chapter in its history of serving the motorcycling community of Central Ohio with the opening of the A.D. Farrow Co. Harley-Davidson & Buell Shop at NorthStar in Delaware County. The 30,000 sq. ft. facility on 18 acres compliments the dealership's historic downtown location, with a beautiful landmark building, state-of-the-art classrooms and riding ranges for training, as well as expanded inventory and service capacity.
As we approach our 100 th anniversary, America's oldest continuously operating Harley-Davidson Dealership has become a place of pride for all who work here, and a destination of significance for all who enjoy motorcycling. |
