Below is part of what I sent out in an email to my friends after last Saturday. I wanted to let you all know how much your presence at Race for the Cure means to me. My friends and look forward to seeing all of you.
Thank you very much for being there,

Along the edges of the last block or so of the race you find Harley riders lined up, reeving their engines. They honk, applaud, cheer for the walkers going by. This part of the race is what gets me emotional. The riders, especially the guys, make a point to try to take the hand of every survivor that goes past and tell that person "thank you, you are awesome, you can do it, you are special" while looking each survivor in the eye. For me, I feel at times that this is one of the few times the survivor is looked in the eye and NOTICED.
